Copy Notes Bound (1) with a copy of Savonarola's Libro di Frate Hieronymo da Ferrara ... della verita della fede Christiana, [1497] (q.v.). The two texts are bound together in a later binding, within two parchment leaves with manuscript text in Latin. Description received from Susan Rankin (Emmanuel College): Two parchment pages, in their original situation one immediately following the other [recto beginning 'eam evovae. A. Attende' comes first; recto beginning ' ... R. Memento mei' comes second]. Red rubrics: musical notation in black neumes on dry-point lines, with the line for F in red ink. Clefs: D, F, a, C. Beneventan neumes of s.xii and text in good Italian caroline, also of s.xii. Beneventan neumes also known as 'Central Italian neumes'. Liturgy: for summer weeks, after Pentecost. beginning with the history 'De Sapientia' [antiphons Attende fili mi; Sapientia manifestavit], and continuing with the history 'De Job' [Responsories Venite adoremus, Si bona suscepimus, etc]. The antiphon 'Sapientia manifestavit' may tie the source directly to the Florentine region. [It is noted in the Cantus database only for a Florentine ms of the twelfth century.] 'Si bona suscepimus ...' = If we have received blessings from the hand of the Lord, why then should we not endure misfortune? [Job 2:10] [Responsories Lasso, Orlando di (1532--1594). Sacrae lectiones ex propheta Iob. Latin Historia de Job]. -- The volume is annotated in ink on front free-endpaper with two bibliographic references and Perfect, in an eighteenth-century hand. Some MS. marks of emphasis in margins.

Binding C18th sheep, gilt-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label. Following the free-endpapers, the text is bound within two parchment leaves with manuscript text in Latin (see description above).
