Originally published: Paris: Saillant & Nyon, 1772. 'Avertissement' leaf inserted after p. 80. Includes: Discours sur Homère; Réflexions sur les combats d'Homère. A uniform edition of the Odyssey appeared in the following year (q.v.). Engraved title vignette and head-pieces.
Copy Notes Pages 3-4 of main sequence, signed 1A2 2A2, misbound as sig. A4. Inscribed in pencil on front free-endpaper, probably by Thomas Boone, Fine Ornamental/ Engravings/ 2 Vols. =15s=, with bookseller's code, and obviously bought together with the copy of Rochefort's translation of the Odyssey (q.v.). Earlier price in pencil 28/- and another code (or shelfmark?) in ink on rear pastedown.
Binding C18th tree calf, gilt-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label, spine-title 'Homere De Rochefort'. Traces of earlier round spine-label: [Vol.] 1. Uniform with the L'Odyssée d'Homère, 1782.
