The whole booke of Psalmes, collected into Englishe metre by Thom. Sterh. Ihon [sic] Hopkins and others, conferred with the Ebrue, with apt notes to sing them withall. 'Cum Privilegio Regiæ Majestatis'. Title page contains printer's device (McK. 83b) with initials 'I.D.' Blackletter. In two columns. The popular use of music type began in 1561 with John Day who held a virtual monopoly on 'The Whole Booke of Psalmes' until his death in 1584, and the Metrical Psalms were frequently bound in with editions of the Bible or the New Testament from this time, as here. STC 2450; ESTC s124341.

Copy Notes Incomplete; last page [103] mounted with loss of text of 104. Bound after a copy of the "Breeches Bible", printed by Christopher Barker, 1579 (q.v.).

Binding C17th English calf, blind-tooled, blind-panelled spine. Two brass clasps and catches, the clasps not matching. Later paper spine-label in ink reading 'The Bible - Breeches'.
