The 'Table of the Colours' has separate pagination and a half title on leaf M5v; the register is continuous. 'The Wisdom Of The Ancients. ... done into English by Sir Arthur Gorges, ...' has special title-page dated 1701. The contents leaf often found at the end was printed as U2 and properly belongs there, following p. 98 as in the present copy. Other issues were printed for various booksellers; the general title-page being partially reset to accommodate the differing imprints. Soane paraphrased a passage from Bacon's Essays in his tenth Lecture (see Watkin, Soane, p. 624). ESTC t129859.
