Originally published in 1747. Martin was a scientific popularizer and instrument maker, a number of whose works are in Soane's library. The final three pages in vol. I and the final two in vol. II advertise books printed for T. Carnan. ESTC n12259.

Copy Notes Bought from J. Wingrave for 9s., 15 September 1804. (Spiers Box. Miscellaneous Booksellers; and 31 August 1804, Archives 7/3/56). An earlier purchase for 14s. 9d. from Lackington's on 18 November 1794 is recorded in Jnl 2, p. 360.
