Edited by the abbé Henri-Simon-Joseph Ansquer de Ponçol, who wrote the 'Vie De Sénèque' and the 'Abrégé De La Vie Et Des Ouvrages De Sénèque Le Père' (see Barbier, Ouvrages anonymes I, 168). The text of the two treatises by Seneca is in Latin with facing French translation. The final leaf contains an 'Indiculus Autorum' of duodecimo classics published by Barbou.

Copy Notes The upper corner of the title-page is torn to remove an [ownership?] inscription in ink.

Binding C18th mottled 'catspaw' calf, gilt French fillet borders with small floral corner-pieces, gilt-tooled spine with tulip and pineapple ornaments, red morocco spine-label.
