Anonymous. First edition. Written in the first person, and later attributed to, and sometimes published as Memoirs of the honourable Col. Andrew Newport; in fact a fictional account by Daniel Defoe. The text of p. 268 is misimposed after that of p. 269. ESTC t69689; Moore 434; Furbank and Owens 208.

Copy Notes 'Defoe's Memoirs of a Cavalier 8vo' with the price 10s. 6d. is listed on a bill from William Boone for 32 items 'Purchased at Perry's Sale', endorsed by Soane '(before June) 1822]'. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.4.13). However, there is no lot number and the work is not listed in the catalogues of the four parts of the sale held by R.H. Evans in March and May 1822 and February 1823, of which the last only is in Soane's library (q.v.).

Binding Later C18th tree calf, beaded gilt-tooled borders, gilt-tooled spine gilt-lettered 'Memoirs Of A Cavelier [sic] By De Foe'.
