Translated by Louis de Sacy. The first edition of Sacy's translation appeared in 1699. Volume I has a final privilege leaf dated 18 [or 28?] January 1715 for the reimpression of the Lettres de Pline and Sacy's Traité de l'amitié and a new Traité de la gloire. Volume II includes 'La Vie De Pline Le Jeune', pp. iii--lxxii. All three volumes have colophon: De l'imprimerie de Moreau.

Copy Notes Signature o (pp. lxxiii--[xxx]) misbound between pp. 272--273 in vol.II. Volume I inscribed in ink on fly leaf John Soane / 1798. Annotated by Soane in pencil with lists of page references on the front free-endpapers of each volume and corresponding marks of emphasis in pencil throughout, and some vocabulary notes to the first fifty pages. Two references in the list in vol. III are annotated for George. Uniformly bound and probably issued with Sacy's translation of Pliny's Panegyricus, 1722 (q.v.).

Binding C18th marbled calf, gilt-ruled borders, gilt-tooled spine with Greek key rolls, double black morocco spine-labels.
