The first edition of Sacy's translation appeared in 1709 (BNF). Volume I has a final privilege leaf dated 28 January 1715 for the reimpression of Sacy's Lettres de Pline, his Traité de l'amitié and a new Traité de la gloire.

Copy Notes Part of a uniformly bound four-volume set with Sacy's translation of Pliny's Letters, 3 vols, 1721 (q.v.), vol. I of which is inscribed with Soane's name and the date 1798.

Binding C18th marbled calf, gilt-ruled borders, gilt-tooled spine with Greek key rolls, double black morocco spine-labels.
