The work, drawing on wide-ranging sources and without scholarly references, traces the subservient role of women through the ages in many societies, with considerable understanding, and comments on women being kept dependent on men by being allowed only a fundamental education. Including a final chapter on the legal position of women in Great Britain. ESTC t36567.
