M. *** = François Bellenger. A translation of the Roman antiquities (Antiquitates Romanæ) of the Greek historian and rhetorician Dionysius of Halicarnassus, a history of Rome from the mythical period to the beginning of the First Punic War. It was divided into twenty books, of which the first nine remain entire, the tenth and eleventh are nearly complete; the remaining books survive in fragments. The maps and plans are engraved by J.B. Nolin. Errata on p. lxxii and final page of vol. I.

Copy Notes Bought from Thomas Boone for £1, 21 December 1816. (Spiers Box). Inscribed in ink on fly leaf 1-16-.

Binding Later C18th calf, gilt French fillet borders with small floral corner ornaments, gilt-tooled spine compartments with arabesques, semis and small eagles, red morocco spine-labels, marbled under gilt edges, marbled endpapers.
