Curatorial note

A page from a sketchbook with studies n Flaxman's hand for the pair of panels of 'The Golden Age' and 'The Silver Age' is in the collection of the Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University, accession no. 1982.219. Their catalogue dates the sketches to c.1825 (see L. Eitner, B.G. Fryberger, C.M. Osborne, The Drawing Collection, Stanford, 1993, p.377, no. 587).
