Roman furniture foot-base: the claw of a griffin(?)

Curatorial note
This is a very finely carved piece. It may be compared with a fragment of a furniture foot in Berlin1, which is described as a griffin's claw and which displays the same energetic formation of leg muscles, scaly claws, and pads.
