An etching on paper from Mortimer's Shakespearean Characters series.
The original pen and ink drawing by Mortimer of 1774 was exhibited at the Society of Artists in 1775, no. 179. It was etched and published by Mortimer, 20 May 1775, the etching inscribed 'BARDOLPH. / My Lord do you see these meteors? Do you behold / these exhalations? / Henry the IV Act the II Scene the 9.' Soane's etching has been trimmed and the inscription lost.
Mortimer's original drawing was rediscovered in the 2010s and with Lowelll Libson & Jonny Yarker Ltd in 2019/20.
