The Royal Procession at the opening of the New London Bridge on 1st August, 1831: the picture features Sir John Soane himself, his housekeeper Sally Conduitt and other friends including Sir Francis Chantrey and J.M.W. Turner. The picture was supplied with a framed 'key' to those included which hangs beneath it. In the background is the Monument to the Great Fire of London.
Commissioned by Soane in 1831. He paid the artist for it on 17 August 1832 (correspondence in the Soane Archive).
