Curatorial note

This is a lead/pewter version of a bronze medal designed by Joachim Dreschler, the German scuptor/medallist (there is an example of the bronze medal in the British Museum, no. 1906,1103.1744).

Hieronymus Baumgärtner the Elder (1498-1566) was a promoter of the Reformation in Nuremberg.
