Curatorial note
Above a foliate central fillet can be discerned traces of foliage and fruit with flowers, at which a bird pecks; below the centre band, more foliage, Bacchic symbols (?) and paired (?) Bacchic masks on opposite sides of the shaft. There is another fillet band at the bottom.
Soane fragment X34 (Vermeule 200) is part of a base of the kind that supported columns such as this one and S109 (Vermeule 193), X28 (Vermeule 193), M86 (Vermeule 195) and S36 (Vermeule 197).
