Curatorial note
Above a thick fillet protrudes an Ammon head from which springs and rises honeysuckle palmettes in the conventional pattern.
While it seems unlikely that the cresting plaque Soane M428 (Vermeule 475) comes from Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli, an antefix such as this one may well have come from that site1 .
