Flintstone
Museum number: M615
Not on display
Curatorial note
In the earliest inventories of Sir John Soane's collection drawn up in 1837 this item is described as Conglomerate Flint Stones &c. (found on Walton Common) and M615* [the next item in the inventory - inserted between two sequential numbers, the inference being that it is being ascribed to a loose piece of M615 as an afterthought] as Meteoric stones partly fused. Both pieces can be seen in one of the images attached which shows them mounted on a board with other objects.
Walton Common, in Surrey, was presumably the find spot for both items.
