Curatorial note
John Bayley (or Baily or Bailey), worked for Soane as a plasterer on several projects in the 1820s but may have been active as early as 1769.
In 1821-23 archive bills record that he was working at Wotton House, Buckinghamshire, rebuilt by Soane after a devastating fire.
Soane Museum model HR4 was made by plasterers Thomas Palmer and John Bayley in 1825. The two firms of Thomas Palmer and Robson and Estall were regular plasterers for Soane.
