Curatorial note
This fragment displays egg and dart ornament in high relief above a cavetto enriched with acanthus palmettes alternately erect and inverted. The regularity of the chiselled breaks and the seemingly deliberate destruction of the egg and dart enrichment would indicate that this and the following piece (Vermeule 49/M50) were probably prepared for reuse as building material.
