Full Scale. Following the construction of a new state entrance and Scala Regia for the House of Lords, Soane was asked in 1823 to design an ante-room and Royal Gallery. The former, which was decorated with great richness, had doorways flanked by scagliola columns and pilasters. M387 represents an Ionic capital of the principal order based upon that of the Erechtheion. The design was approved in July 1823 and executed immediately.
