Curatorial note

A small yellow alabaster cup, with turned base and an eighteenth century milled bronze rim set around the top and outside of the lip.

Provenance help-art-provenance

Rome(?); perhaps collected by Charles Heathcote Tatham for the architect Henry Holland during the 1790s. See Cornelius Vermeule, unpublished catalogue of the Antiquities at Sir John Soane's Museum, Introduction, transcription of Tatham letters, similar objects mentioned on several occasions (e.g. Letter no.7) as 'tazzas'.
