Curatorial note

This small relief is in a frame glazed with yellow glass and set into the Breakfast Room chimneypiece (see also BR25, BR27).

According to an early inventory of the Museum this was the model of a piece of plate intended to be presented to Dr Goddard. William Stanley Goddard (1757-1845) was headmaster of Winchester College from 1806-1809.
