The Intermediate 'Chiswick' Scheme is named after the octagonal drum and dome configuration at the centre of the design (drawing [13]). No precise date has been ascertained and the designs do not correlate with any of the surviving documentary sources. However, the Intermediate 'Chiswick' Scheme has been called 'the ideal English Palladian rendition of what the Houses of Parliament could have been' (Salmon, p. 341). The plans are also remarkable for suggesting a phased construction. This catalogue includes a rare design for the north or south elevation (drawing [14]).
