The dining room would have been located at the back, on the first storey of the house.

It is not known if this design was executed as there is no known photographic record of the chimneypiece prior to demolition.

This design is a duplicate of that designed by Adam in 1766 for the eating room in the home of James Stuart Mackenzie (Adam volume 22/150). The Mackenzie design is inscribed in pencil with the words, 8t House, corresponding with the intended location of this design.

The inscription on this drawing: T: Front / and for the / 10t. House / Front Parlor suggests that the design was intended to be duplicated in the front ground-floor room at number 9 Royal Terrace. This may have been the case, but this cannot be confirmed as there is no photographic record of that chimneypiece prior to demolition.
