Design for the chimneypiece for the dining room, c1769-70, as executed (1)

The dining room would have been located at the back, on the first storey of the house.

This chimneypiece was executed in accordance with Adam’s design, and survived to be photographed by the LCC in 1937. The only confusion lies in the fact that the photograph of this chimneypiece is labelled as being for the front room on the second floor of the house.

The inscription on this drawing: and for Back Parlor / 11t House / River front suggests that the design was intended to be duplicated in the back ground-floor room at 10 Royal Terrace. This was not the case and the chimneypiece in that room was to a executed variant copy of Adam volume 24/47.
