The front parlour would have been the front room on the ground storey of the house.

It is not known if this design was executed as there is no known photographic record of the chimneypiece prior to demolition.

This design is a close variant of that designed by Adam in 1765 for the drawing room at Goodwood (Adam volume 22/148). The Goodwood design is inscribed in pencil with the words, 3d House / River front Parlor, corresponding with the intended location of this design.
