Preliminary design and record drawing for a memorial tower, 1774, unexecuted (2)

1774
Adam designed this memorial tower in 1774 for the top of a hill at Mellerstain. This was a memorial to one of Baillie’s ancestors, Robert Baillie, who had been falsely accused and executed for treason in 1648. The tower was not executed.

The notes written on the preliminary design (Adam volume 21/33) comprise Adam’s list of outstanding work at Mellerstain.
