Soane's office 'Journal N⁰2' records 'Survey'd St John's College', 17 March 1792, visited on 19 March, Chawner took plans on 29 March, 'Survey'd repairs at St John's Coll' on 31 March. After that nothing appears in the Journal. A letter to Dorothy Stroud from the Librarian at St John's College (22 September 1953) notes that the 'Rental' for 1793 has the following entry: 'Mr Soane for superintending buildings and repairing the first Court £19-15-6' . That seems to have been the limit of Soane's work for the College.
