Isaac Buxton: unexecuted design for an observatory, 1773 (1)
1773
Little is known of Isaac Buxton (born 1733). In 1755 he married Sarah, the only daughter of Thomas Fowell, and in c1775-80 he built Belfield House, near Weymouth in Dorset to designs by John Crunden (c1741-1835).
Robert Adam made this design for a 20 foot-wide octagonal observatory for Buxton in 1773, and it has been suggested by King that it was intended for the park at Belfield. The observatory was not executed.
