Preliminary designs and finished drawing for a ceiling for the library, 1766, possibly executed (3)

This ceiling was for a 60 foot-long library within a 95 foot-long wing at the back of 18 Hanover Square. There is no evidence that the library, or indeed the wing were executed, but this is considered likely from observation of expenditure on building works in Adam's bills. Whether or not this specific design was used is not known. According to King 'the fact that all three ceilings [for the rectangular, apsidal library and its octagonal ante rooms] are shown on one drawing suggests that they belonged to one room with three sections'.
