The floor plan for the three schemes is the same, that is, with four columns to left and to right and a triple-arched screen to the back that links the old house. The top-lit ceilings are the main focus of design, drawings 75 and 76 owing something to Soane's designs for the banking halls at the Bank of England such as the New Four Per Cent Office, 1818-23. The winged figures in the spandrels of drawing 75 are found in the earlier Consols Transfer Office. The billiard table adds a homely touch and explains why the drawings are labelled 'Entrance Hall &c'.
