Finished drawings showing views of the scheme, 1772-74, unexecuted (2)

According to Rowan, these views were produced not for engraving and publication (as was typical of views of this sort), but rather for the perusal of the Society of Lincoln’s Inn, to show them the 'movement' of the façades. Of Adam volume 28/14 Tait wrote the following: ‘The perspective Adam used brilliantly showed to the full his sense of movement and the variety of the separate buildings that compiled his design.'

Adam’s scheme for Lincoln’s Inn was not executed, and instead, Sir Robert Taylor’s designs were built in 1774-80. See scheme notes.
