Design for the great drawing room curtain cornice, September 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (1)

As the house was demolished in 1862, and this feature was not illustrated in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam, it is not known of the great drawing room curtain cornice was executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.

This is one of seven extant Adam designs for curtain cornices for 23 Grosvenor Square. Of this design Stillman wrote: 'while specific details of the cornice are not repetitions of the motifs in the rest of the room, the spirit and general character go hand-in-hand'.
