Preliminary design for the first drawing room overdoor frame, 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (1)

As the house was demolished in 1862, and this feature was not illustrated in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam, it is not known if the first drawing room overdoor frames were executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.

What is known, is that the overdoor panels within Adam's frames were painted by Angelica Kauffman. One illustrated The return of Telemachus and the other Andromache fainting. According to Harris, these 'are among her [Kauffman's] very few securely documented works'.
