Preliminary design for a chimneypiece for the Register House, c1774-79, 85-92, unexecuted (1)

It is not known for which room this chimneypiece was intended. The design may have been produced at any time that Adam was working on the building, from 1774 when the foundation stone was laid. See scheme notes.

It is unlikely that this chimneypiece was executed as the only room in which Adam installed an interior decorative scheme was the rotunda, which does not include chimneypieces owing to its underfloor flue system.
