Record drawings for friezes, N.D. (3)

In Adam volume 53/26 the hall frieze is shown almost as executed. The frieze labelled for a dining room was possibly for Lord Mansfield's private dining parlour, the frieze for which was executed by George Burns and billed for in 1772. The library frieze is as executed, and can also be seen in Adam volumes 14/114-115 and 11/113. Adam volume 53/41 shows the frieze for Lord Mansfield's dressing room, almost as executed, and the frieze given in Adam volume 53/42 does not exist at Kenwood, and it is not known if it was executed.

Volume 53 of the Adam drawings collection is composed entirely of friezes, possibly for use as a catalogue or pattern book (see appendix on volume 53).
