Record copy of an alternative design for a house with a square U-plan and a three-bay front with dormer windows (1)

The house measures 79 feet across and 69 feet deep and has the square-U plan that was adopted. There are some variations on, for example, the plan 'as executed' published as plate 1 in Plans, elevations and sections of buildings erected in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk…, 1788 (1789). On plan, the seven-bay east front of drawing 13 is made more important by an elaborate treatment of the windows and the addition of a secondary door and with stair. The principal elevation has three windows each to the ground, first and attic floors; these last are dormer windows. The ground floor windows are the minimal tripartite windows of drawing 4 (for the west front). The entrance repeats that form but with a pedimented glazed door added. The six pilasters have floriated Ionic capitals with a disc on the frieze above each of them.

Made as a record of an unexecuted design by a pupil, the drawing is undated and without an identifying title.
