Anonymous. The French edition of 1676, bearing the fictitious imprint 'A Cologne: chez Simon l'Africain', has a dedication signed S. Bremont; the author is also known as Gabriel de Brémond. Preface of the translator signed: 'B.B.' [i.e Aphra Behn?]. A fictionalized account of Charles II's affair with Lady Castlemaine. Wing suggests that Simon the African may be Richard Bentley. Wing B4351; ESTC r39621.
Copy Notes A slip with a manuscript list in a C17th hand identifying the dramatis personae inserted after the title-page.
Binding C18th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt-tooled spine with sixteen-petalled flower tool, gilt spine-title reading 'Hattige'.
