Anonymous. By the Montpellier-born writer and adventurer Ange Goudar, and derived perhaps from Casanova. In the form of letters from the different cities of Europe, presenting a critique of European society and politics from the perspective of fictional Chinese visitors in the tradition of Montesquieu's celebrated Lettres persanes, 1721. The imprint is false; printed in London, according to a reviewer in the Monthly Review, vol. 31 (1764) p. 634; or, in Holland, according to E.O. Weiler, Die falschen und fingirten druckorte, 2. Bd (1864), p. 167. ESTC t122381.
