A reprint of the second Paris edition of 1682 (first published in 1675). Privilege du Roi dated 1676 at end. Printer's name from colophon, p. 864. Carolus Ruæus = Charles de la Rue. The Eclogues, Georgics and Aeneid with paraphrase in Latin prose and notes. The Soane copy as described lacks the 'Tabula' called for by catchword on p. 864, preceding the 'Index'. The only other copy so far traced, in the Royal Library, Copenhagen, has a cancel slip pasted down over the catchword, suggesting a change by the printer from 'Tabula' to 'Index'.
Copy Notes [Bookplate?] has been removed from inside upper cover. Inscribed in ink on title page: Jo Hiccocks 6[over]15. Front pastedown inscribed in ink with bookseller's code and in pencil with price -18-; further pencil code on rear pastedown. Front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil 122.
Binding C18th mottled calf, gilt-tooled spine compartments, brown morocco spine-label reading 'Virgilivs Delphini'.
