'The Chace', a poem about hunting, was originally published in 1735. Also included, with continuous register but separate pagination and a title-page dated 1768, is 'Hobbinol, Or The Rural Games. A Burlesque Poem, In Blank Verse', fifth edition. 'Hobbinol' was first published in 1740 after circulating in manuscript as 'The Wicker Chair', with several editions appearing during that year. The two works appeared together from the fourth edition of 1749. The plates are engraved by Anthony Walker, the frontispiece being after Hubert Gravelot. ESTC t67409.
Copy Notes Bound (2) with Christopher Anstey's New Bath guide, 4th ed., 1767 (q.v.). Volume front free-endpaper inscribed in ink John Soane.
Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt double-ruled borders and spine, black morocco spine-label.
