Drop-head title. Imprint taken from foot of p. 6, dated 'Mai 1814.' The final leaf is blank. This advertisement gives detailed information on the make-up of the work, how and when it was delivered to subscribers, and the point it had reached by May 1814. The first part appeared in 1810, the second in 1813 and the third, containing 400 plates, was promised for 1815.
Copy Notes Bound with 11 other pamphlets. Page [1] is inscribed in ink Mr Boone / March 1821 / 170 L / papier Velin 250. / 96 n.6. This would seem to indicate that it was the bookseller Thomas Boone who supplied Soane with this prospectus, quoting a discount price of £170 for an ordinary copy and £250 for a special copy on 'papier vélin'. Further inscriptions in ink on p. 6 quote individual prices for the three livraisons if bought separately. These add up to £188 and £287 10s. respectively for ordinary and special copies of the complete work.
Binding C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine, maroon spine-label lettered 'Pamphlets &c', later numbered '32' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
