First edition, Venice, 1557. Translated by W. Brown from the edition in Italian and French published in Florence, 1735 with title Dialogo della pittura di M. Lodovico Dolce, intitolato l'Aretino, with a preface on the state of the arts in England and editorial notes to the text. The translator's name is subscribed in MS. to the dedication in the BL copy.
