The notice 'To the Reader', apparently written on behalf of the anonymous author ('a professional gentleman of the city'), is signed 'I.M.B.P.' (i.e. I.B.M. Pigott) and dated 'Nicholas-street, March, 1816'. A small etched view of the Rows is printed on the title-page and evidently counts as one of the five unnumbered etchings by George Cuitt (1743--1818) called for in the title.
