Continuation of Library of the Fine Arts (q.v.) and issued under this title from November 1832 to April 1833 (6 issues). Continued as: Arnold's Magazine of the Fine Arts, and Journal of Literature and Science. New Series (q.v.). Includes a separately paginated reprint of the first three of Fuseli's Lectures on painting with title-page dated 1833 (q.v.).
Copy Notes Copy 1: 'Volume III' bought for 15s., 2 March 1833 (Office Account Book, 1828--33. 6/23/4) with a loosely inserted sheet of MS. notes by A. T. Bolton noting subjects of interest.
Copy 2: 22.7 cm. Issue 'No. VI. April 1833.' only. Imperfect; wanting pp. 465--480. With the original printed buff paper wrappers and [4] pp. supplement of advertisements printed on pink paper. With separately printed advertisement for Bent's Monthly Literary Advertiser (q.v.) and Works recently published, ... by J. Taylor, Architectural Library, ... (q.v.) bound in. This is probably the copy of the last / number of our Magazine enclosed in a letter from the editor, H.A. Green, dated 24 April 1833, requesting permission to insert a biographical sketch of Soane in the number for June of the Magazine (q.v., copy 2). (Priv. Corr. I.G.11). Soane's reply is not recorded, but the sketch did not appear as proposed.
Binding Copy 1: C19th green moiré cloth, black roan spine-label lettered in gilt 'The/ Library/ Of The/ Fine Arts./ [illegible]/ 1832.' Bound to match vols III & IV of the set of Library of the fine arts but with volume number erased from spine-label.
Copy 2: Bound in a numbered series of late 19th century half calf pamphlet volumes. (Archive, Trustees' Minutes 18 June 1866). With binder's stamp 'Bound By Mansell' on front pastedown.
