This is the first edition of Normand's collection of plates comparing the orders as drawn by Alberti, De L'Orme, Palladio, Scamozzi, Serlio and Vignola and described by Vitruvius, with surviving architecture in Rome. The detail and accuracy of the plates made the work highly useful, and it was translated into a number of European languages and continued to be reprinted well into the twentieth century.
