This and the companion volumes on Austrian (q.v.), Chinese (q.v.), Russian (q.v.), and Turkish costume (q.v.) which complete the series were also published in Large Paper with plates in two states, plain and coloured (Tooley, no. 374).
Binding C19th dark blue morocco, both covers with central diaper pattern lozenge motif and decorative borders tooled in gilt and blind to match the companion volumes on Austrian, Chinese, Russian and Turkish costume, gilt- and blind-tooled spine direct-lettered in gilt 'Costume of England', gilt edges.
