The 'Remarks & references to the Historical Works ...' are very brief and engraved with the plates. The plates are dated between 1791 and 1795. Although issued as a self-contained collection, the work was also evidently intended to illustrate and augment other works on the history and topography of London, such as the Pennant's frequently extra-illustrated Of London, first published in 1790. The Soane copy includes the 2-pp. letterpress 'Directions to the Binder for placing Smith's Views in Pennant's London' (not included in the collation) with page references to the 4th edition of Pennant. Copy Notes Bound interleaved with a copy of Pennant's Some account of London, 4th ed., 1805 (q.v., copy 1) in two volumes.
